Terri Gooch

Terri Gooch Describe your favorite race experience.
RAO 2001: my first race – The ultimate Zen moment that lasted 37 hours.

Who, above all is your greatest sporting inspiration?
People who try. People who try new things, to improve at old things, who try again and again to locate that elusive thing which motivates us to strive for excellence.

What preparation have you employed to prepare for RAAM?
I live in Oregon, a state with weather so bad during the months in which I train for RAAM I seriously consider quitting every single time I throw my leg over a bike.

Ultimate RAAM ‘04 goal?
To win our division so I never have to race RAAM again.

Obstacle to reaching this goal?
Knowing, before I even get to the starting line, just how difficult RAAM is.

What intimidates you the most about RAAM?
Failing myself, my partner, my team.

What attracts you the most about RAAM?
The opportunity to shine at doing something I love.

Favorite quote, either famous or not, that fuels your ambition?
“There is a hollow feeling when the challenge of reaching a goal is gone. The goal now is to stay there. It’s like looking for excellence in isolation.”—Bjorn Borg
