RAO 3-Day Camp

RAO 3-Day Training Camp: June 19 – 22, 2008

Times: Riders will meet at Whispering Woods Resort, Welches, Oregon on Thursday evening June 19, 2008. Rider information will be available after 5:00PM. All mornings will have informal start times, but expect to be on the road no later than 7:00 AM. Slower riders will want to start as early as possible. Expect to finish late Sunday afternoon at either Timberline Lodge (weather permitting) or Whispering Woods Resort. Vehicles may be left at Whispering Woods Resort for the weekend. We are able to pick riders up at the Portland International Airport. Contact us with your travel plans.

RAO Training CampWhat: We will be riding a majority of the 538 mile RAO course in three days. This is an intense training weekend. You should be prepared to ride challenging back-to-back days. The camp is timed to work as a final tune-up for RAO. Do not use this ride as your weekend to get in shape. Your entry fee covers three nights double occupancy motel (if you have a roommate preference please let me know), sag support, breakfast and lunch. Dinner will be on your own in the evening. Space is extremely limited. I will close entry at 10 participants.

What to bring: You must be able to fit all of your gear in one bag. Bring tools that you normally carry on your training rides: spare tubes, pump, water bottles, etc. We’ll have a tool box, lube, and extra tubes in the van but not much else as we will be carrying your gear, snacks and lunch. Be prepared for cold weather and rain as well as hot and dry. Your bike must be in top working condition when you arrive.

RAO Training CampWhat to expect: This is our eighth year hosting RAO training camps. Our goal is to provide you with the opportunity for great training and first hand experience on the race route. The crew is there to help you as much as possible while doing our best to stay out of your way. We have patterned the camp after PAC Tour and PCT. George has used those tours three times as prep rides and has experienced some of the best results of his ultra career. We are hoping this will do the same for you. In the past few years, campers have posted some of the top divisional finishes in RAO. You will receive daily route sheets. Your motel rooms will be ready and waiting for you at the end of each day. Sag support will be available at regular intervals.

Three Day camp is Closed
