9:30AM Monday
All of the racers are in! Congratulations to Glenn Johnson – second place finisher and ROOKIE of the year. All of our rookies that finished qualified for RAAM.
Thank you to everyone who raced/crewed/officiated in RAO this year – see you tonight at 6PM at the banquet at the Holiday Inn

1:22AM Monday
The race is complete. Adam Garmon had an amazing ride up Timberline to become RAAM qualified in his first-ever race.

7:30PM Sunday
All of the solo riders are close, but we have no idea who the rookie of the year will be as Johnson, Buntrock and Correy are all looking strong and trading positions. The head solo officials on course, Craig and Kathy Rosenkrantz report that all of the racers are doing well.

5:45PM Sunday
Al Smudz takes the 2007 Race Across Oregon Solo Crown, coming in with a time of 35:30. All of the Four-person teams are now in and a bunch of solo riders are getting close to the base of Timberline.

2:15PM Sunday
Theraputic Hammer Sharks finished in record-setting time, 29:02. – Team Dik-Less is fast approaching the base of Timberline and should finish in the next 90 minutes.

11:45AM Sunday
Everyone aside from racer 130 Adam Garmon is through TS#4 – the race this year is really going great. Team She-Cat Flash just checked into TS 4! Way to go, Ladies!!
11:00AM Sunday
We have a Winner in the Two Person Men’s Open division! Team Cadence finished at 10:33 for a total time of 27:13! Looks like a new record!
Team EWEB finished second with a time of 27:56.

We’ve had another solo go through at TS#4 – for a total of 4 solos through – still waiting to hear more – stay tuned!
9:30AM Sunday
Well, I’ve just had an update from race HQ and it’s looking good for all of our teams – Bob Buntrock is through Prineville as are the Master Blasters, Doug and the Descenders, Falcons and Mountain Goats. No word on what is up with Glenn Johnson or Ryan Correy – I’ve got a call out now to the Lead Solo Official Kraig Rosencrantz – so hopefully I will get some news.
8:00AM Sunday
Team Cadence is in Pine Grove, so close to the finish – they are doing 20 minute pulls – looking great – the fact that they are getting the new record has them racing even faster – I hear they are averaging 20mph on 216. The weather is perfect – no wind!
On the solo front, I am sad to announce that we have had two more DNF’s – Brian Cushing had enough and called in to say “quits” but I don’t have a reason.
Hugh Gapay also DNF’d at mile 310 at 5:00AM this morning – I wish we had more beta on this one – it appeared that he was riding well and feeling great at TS #3 at 11:35 when he rolled through and that is mile 270….

7:00 AM Sunday
George just caught up with Team EWEB who are climbing Shimnasho grade in the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. George had a chance to speak with Kenneth Philbrick, who is in great spirits and happy with the way the race is unfolding for Team EWEB. After a long day yesterday from Shaniko to Monument, the EWEBer’s are racing in to the finish by doing 30 minute pulls.
6:40AM Sunday
I just spoke with George and he reports that the Hammer Sharks are just outside of Madras – almost entering the Warm Springs Reservation and climbing strong. He is on his way to the front with photag Ryan Gardener – they are going to have to hurry to catch up with Team Cadence, who is on target for a new two man record.
Thankfully the weather has changed again and it looks like it’s going to be nice up top today AND tonight! I can see the mountain from here, though it’s got a whipped cream top right now – might be wind – but the high is 73 degrees and the low tonight a balmy 52 degrees.
5:00AM Sunday
Wow, the Sorella Forte Hammer Sharks are kicking butt! The first four woman team rolled into Prineville, TS #4 at 4:58 this morning. Go Ladies!
Team Cadence hasn’t let up yet – they were our first team into TS #4 rolling through in the dark at 3:36 – I haven’t looked, but that sounds like a record to me!
Team EWEB is still in hot pursuit, but are losing ground to the guys from Seattle – come on EWEB, it’s not over yet!!!!
12:30 AM Sunday morning
Ross Muecke has DNF’d at mile 241 due to medical reasons.
12:00 Update
So many people checking into TS # 3 Alright!
11:00PM Update
I’ve got George on the line- and he would like to add a few things
A good race going on in the solo field between Ryan Correy and Glenn Johnson. They just exchanged spots with Glenn pulling ahead.
Tom Letsinger, Hugh Gapay and Bob Buntrock are close behind, and seem to be within 15 mintues of each other on the Monument climb.
I hear that Hugh had some bad stomach problems on Bakeoven, but that’s behind him now and he is back and riding strong.
The racer who is really flying up the Monument climb is Tom – and the weather couldn’t be better – perfectly clear, 63 degrees and calm!
George also added that Bob Buntrock always has a smile on his face and seems to be having a great race! Good job!
The team race is also going well – the Moutain Goats are really competitive with Richard Haight keeping the goats up toward the front – ahead of the Falcon team – who also seem to be having an awesome race.
A special nod to the Master Blasters who are riding very strong and appear to be in great spirits making up for their flats this morning.

10:00PM Saturday
Team Cadence checked into TS 3 at 20:59 – wow! or should I say WOW – that is practically an hour faster than last year’s Team Tartan – who broke the two man record. I hope that Cadence can keep it going!
The Therapeutic Associates Hammer Shark women are also kicking it into high gear – checking into Long Creek/TS #3 at 21:48 – if they can keep it going they might be the first four person team in! Go Sharks!
Solo racer Al Smudz is also kicking it out – the first placed solo racer just pulled into Long Creek at 21:35 – just 35 minutes slower than last year’s course record time by Saunders Whittlesy – GO AL~
9:10PM Saturday
Everyone has arrived at TS 2 Fossil. Still waiting for on the road updates when the officials get into cell phone contact.
8:15PM Saturday
Everyone has arrived at TS 2 except Team She Cat Flash, who I expect any minute. Everyone appears to be racing well.
7:45 PM Saturday
All the Solos have arrived at TS 2 Fossil except Ross Muecke and Bruce Carroll. Ross’ crew did call into HQ to say that Ross was well and riding fine.

All Teams have arrived at TS2 except Team Bachetta Bee Fast and Team She Cat Flash.

Many thanks to everyone at the Maupin Time Station who volunteered and helped welcome the RAO racers! We couldn’t do it without you!

5:30 PM Saturday
Hello Everyone! I am back home in Hood River and we should be getting more up to date time station information with dependable internet access.

From this morning:
Solo Field: Glenn Johnson started the morning off right by forgetting his helmet and shoes! His crew raced back to Vancouver to pick up his gear and he borrowed George’s helmet for the parade start. Kudos to this team as they were able to meet Glenn at the race start with the goods!

The solo field was very close all the way to Maupin with just a few minutes separating each place. Some issues:

*Two flats, both front and rear, and a frame issue for Michael Wolfe outstide of Maupin left him walking on the side of the road as his crew raced back from town and a gas stop.

*Upset stomach has Adam Garmon eating bread! Let’s hope it improves as the race goes on

*Bruce Carroll may be the last solo right now, but he is riding his own race and feeling VERY GOOD. Hats off to Bruce for keeping the ego in check and racing well.

*5 Minute penalty to Brian Cushing for running a stop sign.

*Smiling Bob Buntrock looks awesome and is riding well.

*Ross Muecke has a sick crew person – hmmm, is this a strategy to keep Ross out of the support van?

For the Team Start:

You may notice the team times don’t figure with the proposed 7AM start time – we had a few mechanical issues with the teams and to be fair for anyone hoping for an RAO record – we pushed back the official start time to 7:20:00. If my math is off below, please don’t hesitate to write me!

The first problem was with Team Dik-Less as Phil had a frame problem. John Schlitter saved the day by donating a bike to this team.

Next, during the parade start, Master Blaster racer had two flats and then another at Buxton – what a hair-raising way to start RAO.

The obvious race happening right now is between two man teams Cadence and EWEB – look for some hot and heavy racing all night long.
