Where does the route go?
We head east out of Portland via local roads to connect with Route 26 and Mount Hood. Some challenging climbs occur within the first 200 miles that could be compounded by the extremities of Pacific Northwest weather. Some of the prettiest scenery in Oregon is presented when riding through the farmland of Tygh Valley and the Deschutes River Valley. A wild ride down the switchbacks into Antelope will keep everyone’s attention while traveling into Central Oregon. At the turn around point of Mount Vernon, cold riders will fight their way back west through the fossil caves of the John Day River. Farther west the route goes on to pass through some of the most unforgettable Oregon sites, like Ochocco National Park, Ka-ne-ta Indian Reservation, and the Mount Hood Wilderness area to finish at Timberline Lodge.
