WOW!

I can’t even begin to keep with with all of the entries we’ve been receiving – don’t believe me!? Take a look at the roster page – it’s seems like not a day goes by without an entry coming in the mail. The three day camp has been full for weeks (complete with a multi name waiting list) and the four day camp is just waiting for a few of you team riders to realize the fun you’re going to be missing…

George and I are getting ready for our first event of the season, the Deschutes River Valley Time Trail Festival. For those of you familiar with RAO or the RAO Training Camps, you already know how great the riding in and around Maupin can be. Far enough out from the Cascades, the early season weather in that part of the state is often dry and sunny. Sometimes it’s the only nice area during the three day camp!

The DRVTTF is a new concept for both RAO, LLC and Oregon bicycle racing. It is three separate time trial stage races over a two day weekend. Two stages on Saturday (AM is a 25 mile stage with varied terrain, PM is an 8 mile uphill TT) and one stage on Sunday (a 45 mile out and back on Bakeoven Road). I am excited and we’ve been getting a number of entries already. Of course we’re looking for volunteers, so if you’d like to race just bring someone along to help out and you can race for free.

I invite all of you that are signed up to race RAO this summer to let me know what other events you are racing in or participating in so that I can post your results on the RAO blog. I also just really enjoy getting your emails – so please keep George and I in the loop.

George and I also need to get out on the route so that we can scout some of the changes we are proposing for the RAO course – we are trying to circumvent the traffic around Madras as well as RT 26 near the end of the course. Right now most of the Forest Roads are still under snow and are impassable. We hope to get out to Prineville within the next week or so to find something to take us away from Madras – I just hate to take the only flat part of the race out, but I know none of you would complain….
