Wade Baker Update

From an email today from Wade:

“I saw the Dr Wednesday and things are definitely looking better. Up until Wednesday I was still using crutches and couldn’t ride the trainer. The Dr said my x-rays looked good and that I could start riding the trainer and begin to walk without crutches. Actually he said that TYPICALLY I would start with using only one crutch and at the end of a month be walking without any support. I asked him if I could cut that in half and he said I might be able to walk unsupported in one week. He again stressed that the one month scenario is only what is typically done. So I walked most of yesterday without any support and the leg felt pretty good. Also rode the trainer Wednesday and yesterday and the Dr said if my x-rays at the end of the month show continued healing he would let me ride on the road. So if I’m able to ride on the road by March first that would be two months earlier than what the Dr had originally indicated.

It feels soooooo good to be getting off the crutches and it feels even better to be able to get on the trainer. Now I just have to be careful not to overdue it. I don’t think I’ll have any problem with overdoing it. It’s not like I’ve ever been accused of being obsessive about my riding or anything. The week before my Dr’s appointment I felt like I was at the end of the rope. But I’m beginning to feel much better and with the probability of being able to get on the road in a month will be huge.”

YEAH!!! GO WADE!!!!! We’re so glad you are on the ‘road’ to recovery – or should I say the trainer to recovery!! (see, even Wade will be kicking my butt by the end of March….I hope he isn’t planning on PAC Tour camp!)
