Race Day 2005

The eighth annual Race Across Oregon is now underway. Twenty solo riders left the Holiday Inn near the Portland airport at 5:00 a.m. this morning under clear skies and the promise of a beautiful day in the mountains. Temperature in the low 50s. Weather forcast for the entire route at this point is for partly cloudy, between lows in the 30s and 40s at night and mid 60s during the day. Chance of rain is between 20% and 30%. Mark Raaca and Eric Gutierrez were unable to be present for the start of the race. Carl Poppe, Gilberto Marquez and Tim Jones had previously indicated they would not be present.
Four two-person teams are now on the race course. They left the start line at 7:00 a.m. The four-person teams will start at 9:a.m.
Alan Larsen and his wife, Teresa are making a DVD of the race this year. It will be available to all for $20. This includes the shipping cost.
We will keep you informed of the progress of the race as information is available. Blogs will be updated at least at every time station as the race times are called in.
