Crew Needed

A few months ago I posted something about David Holt needing crew for RAAM. At the time, the idea of crewing for someone was too overwhelming for me to imagine. With Amelia, George and a full plate of work and event commitments, I couldn’t even imagine taking on something else.

Cue to the middle of last week when I spoke to Bill Phillips of Team RAO Speedwagon – he called to mention that he’s got the time to crew at RAAM – and did David Holt still need some help. Wow. So that’s really cool. A few phone calls later and hell, even I am ready to sign up! I had a long conversation with Lisa Kienle, David’s crew chief and RAO alumni, about her plans for the big event. It made me so dang homesick for the whole RAAM thing – I couldn’t believe it.

Then last weekend we raced the 12 hour and I really got my appetite back for bike racing. Don’t get me wrong; I totally love putting events on. But I do really miss racing them – or being in the mix as a crew member. And even though I’ve been twisting some arms the past few days, I don’t think any one else is going to put on any other events up here this year. So if you might be on the fence about taking part in RAO this year – here’s your chance. We need some officials, some help at registration and a few of the racers need help with crew. If you are interested please let me know – we’ve got a lot of spaces to fill. And I promise it will be a great adventure!
